This blog is dedicated to those who fight for liberty by promoting our Constitution and personal freedoms in a day and age when the government can control what you say and do in the name of "national security."

“The Daily Show with John Stewart” talking about the media’s purposeful exemption of Ron Paul’s name when talking about frontrunners. Funny, and true.

Repeal the “Patriot” Act!

Ron Paul 2012!

(via ronpaulrevolution-deactivated20)

The PATRIOT Act, which is set to expire this Friday, sidesteps our 4th and 14th Amendment rights to due process and probable cause in the name of “fighting terror.” Although this Act was passed in October of 2001, shortly after (and in the name of) the 9/11 attacks, Congress has been trying to pass parts of this Act since the “War on Drugs” started in the 1980s. This Act allows investigators to tap into phone conversations, read emails, listen to voicemails, and even “sneak-and-peek” on anyone they deem a “potential terrorist”… without even telling the subjects that they have been searched. A Department of Justice official admitted, on record, that the PATRIOT Act is used to spy on drug offenders more often than it is used to study potential terrorists.
The PATRIOT Act is due for renewal this week. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kent.) has been fighting since last week to stop this renewal, or at the very least pass an amendment preventing certain gun records from being searched. He said on the issue,”do we want a lawless land? Do we want… a government without so much restraint that at any time they can come into your house? We were very worried about that. That’s why our country was founded on principles such as the Fourth Amendment.”
Senator Paul filibustered this renewal, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) used a procedural move to end any debate on this subject and get the Act renewed on time. Senator Reid acknowledged that Senator Paul wanted to have a healthy debate on the subject, but said,”but the Senate doesn’t always work that way…. We cannot let this PATRIOT Act Expire. I have a personal responsibility to get this bill done as soon as possible…. The time has come for me to take some action.”
That’s right, Senator Reid. You tell them. Take some action by stepping all over our Democratic American system of debating issues, and make the opposition stop talking because you don’t have a rebuttal that makes enough sense to make other Senators see it your way.
The Founding Fathers would be so proud.

**EDIT** Erm… it was pointed out to me that I  misspelled “inconsistencies.” I am so embarassed. I hope it doesn’t detract from this message.
And just so everyone’s aware, the Patriot Act was signed last night, just in time before it expired. But all hope is not lost yet.

  • Question: Well then if it was none of our business to invade Iraq (something I never said I agreed with nor diasagreed), then wouldnt we likewise have no business intervening in Sudan or Darfur?

And if it is 'none of our business' to oppose tyrants like Saddam Hussein, then which tyrants do you think we should be opposing? - slowdivers
  • Answer:

It is none of our buiness to intervene in Sudan or Darfur. I never said we should send our troops to those countries; every time we go to intervene on another country’s behalf, we prop up a more vicious leader than was there before. It should be up to the people of a country to decide to stand up to a tyrant, not a “world police,” which we have become. We have stretched ourselves far beyond our means defending other countries who do NOT want our help.

In America, the only tyrants we should be opposing are our own leaders.

  • Question: Very interesting blog...also, what is the design "theme" called of your tumblr? - napoftheearth-deactivated201106
  • Answer:

Thank you! I hope you will continue to follow us.  Our theme is “Royal Cameleon”  It is a nice theme because you can customize the colors.  Eventually I would like to switch to something else, but this will have to do for now!

  • Question: I find it funny that under your graphic about the Iraq war it says that the war should "never have been" and that we must "stand up to tyranny". What was Saddam Hussein if not a ruthless tyrant?

Even going by the statistics of the graphic regarding civilian deaths, Saddam was responsible for twice as many civilian deaths in the An-Anfal Campaign against the Iraqi Kurds alone, not to mention the massacres that he was responsible for around the time of the Gulf War against Kurdish and Shia uprisings which he brutally repressed. - slowdivers
  • Answer:

Regardless of whether Saddam Hussein was a tyrant or not, (I clearly believe he was for the reasons you stated and more) it was none of our business to invade that country.

If you want to talk about injustice and genocide, look no further than Sudan and Darfur where MILLIONS have been slaughtered in civil wars and cleansing.

However IRAQ happens to be one of the leading oil producing nations on the earth.  I believe that may have something to do with it, don’t you?

I made this graphic today to show how disgusted I am with the Iraq war which has brought nothing but misery for the American and Iraqi people.  It is a war that should have never been and will have a negative impact on our nation for decades.  It is time for us to STAND UP to tyranny and demand that our brave young men and women be brought home IMMEDIATELY from this disturbing conflict… -Mike Zawadzki
